The Social Network
Well I pretty much did my homework when it comes to social network. The movie talks about zuckerberg and his mega creation facebook which accidentally made him the youngest billionaire!
Now I would be more interested in discussing about what happened backstage if you know what i mean, the controversies and the lawsuits that took place.
The movie was superb jesse eisenberg and andrew garfield were brilliant in deliverance and jesse even got nominated for academies to prove it. The supports were good too but justin timberlake was surprisingly good, I mean he was the best when it comes to the supports! Overall cast performance was good.
David Fincher had it's direction and he definitely knows how to play!.. I can say that this might be his best movie yet..others being fight club and benjamin button.
coming to the story this is what i would really like to talk about. The thing is that most of the story is true though there were some fragmentations that took place. Well the movie starts of where mark and his GF erica end the relationship. Now interestingly mark never mentioned about his girlfriend named erica and it was because of her that he blogged about what happened and yea insulting erica online. This was the beginning of where mark became a bad guy...Not only this he meets the winklevosses and they have an idea about connecting the harvard community. He comes up with a better idea and ends up with facebook. Winkelvosses claiming that he stole their idea whereas the real thing is that mark had previously done projects including course match and facemash. course match had students linked for study and facemash was just for fun. Winklevosses jealousy can be seen here. Though what he did was mostly against harvard's code of conduct. He was expelled from harvard but Aaron morkin and ben mezrich showed that mark gets a probation instead. The online heavy traffic was one thing but he even hacked the harvard database and i've read that harvard took strict actions against him. Mark didn't stop eventually got expelled. The writers portrayed him in a negative way just that the situation was slightly different.
Then you have Sean parker of napster and friend eduardo savirin. Well as for parker he mentioned that his role in the movie was fictious though he did help mark with facebook but his character is not what is being depicted. And Eddy Savirin was born in a wealthy family in brazil so which proves the point that he has no money issues but he sues mark over having his shares being diluted which shows that he was greedy over ownership and hated parker,
might be because of professional jealousy and eddy not admitting it. Amidst these controversies mark settles the issue and thankfully he still is the owner of his creation. it's just that the movie didn't appreciate him instead it had it's light on the settlements and lawsuits.
Summing..it up..the movie was very good on overall basis as it shows that the businesses might be successful but still it's not easy making billions. As the tagline says "You Don't Get to 500 million Friends Without making a Few Enemies". I would recommend a watch but do keep in mind that fictious element is included so as to dramatize the whole story. Just don't hate mark after watching this. He isn't a bad guy afterall.
